Bellator Newcastle takes place Saturday, February 9 in Utilita Arena in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom.
The offshore sportsbooks lately opened the full odds for the primary card, and here they are.
Bellator Newcastle Odds
Patricky Pitbull -510
Ryan Scope +340
Aaron Chalmers -275
Corey Browning +195
Terry Brazier -530
Chris Bungard +350
Fabian Edwards -380
Lee Chadwick +280
And here are my first ideas on the Bellator Newcastle introductory lines:
Like most Bellator cards, this one is filled with big favorites. The majority of them should win, such as Pitbull in the main event against Scope. The big different here is obviously the experience and degree of competition faced. Pitbull has been one of the best lightweights in Bellator for years (and probably one of the most underrated lightweights in the sport) while Scope is a Bellator newcomer who hasn’t fought anyone of note, save for a split decision win over former UFC fighter Mickel Lebout in his last bout. Scope has in fact been involved in the game since a teenager, however, has never really made it big, whilst Pitbull remains one of the best lightweights in Bellator. I anticipate Pitbull to get his hand raised and he’ll be a favorite parlay bit amongst bettors.
I’m not totally sold on Chalmers and that I would not be shocked if Browning pulled off yet another upset. Chalmers does have four first-round endings, however, the former reality TV star in England has been receiving simple matchups by the matchmakers. Browning wasn’t supposed to be competitive against Baby Slice within his Bellator debut, but he ended up finishing Kevin Ferguson Jr. by knockout in one of the biggest upsets of 2018 in MMA. I believe Browning is probably a bit better than many people think he is, and that I would not be surprised at all if he got the angry here. So far as I am concerned, this is a dog-or-pass situation.
Brazier is making his Bellator with a ton of hype as an former BAMMA winner. He has won his last nine fights and has not tasted defeat since a 2015 knockout loss which was his lone career defeat. Bungard has a nice amount of experience on the European regional circuit and is an adequate gatekeeper type of fighter, but that is obviously Bellator trying to fit up Brazier using a guy who he can beat in his promotional debut. Much like Pitbull, I anticipate Brazier to win this battle handily and expect him to become a popular parlay piece as well.
Much like Pitbull and Brazier, Edwards looks like he will be a favorite chalk bit too. The brother of the UFC’s Leon is just 5-0 and he is only 25, meaning he’s a bright MMA career ahead of him. Chadwick is a veteran of 40 battles and has fought many of England’s top fighters, but he has been finished nine times, including four knockout losses, and this seems like another struggle at which the heavy favorite should glow. I’d definitely keep your eye out for the Edwards within the distance props, but he is another man to consider putting into a Bellator chalk parlay.
